Changed your store? Keep a clear checkout test record.

Checkout Smoke-Test Pack gives ecommerce developers and store teams a reusable record of their manual checkout tests. Write down what you checked, what passed, what failed and what still needs attention.

Use it after a theme edit, checkout setting change or small storefront update. You run the checks in an authorized testing environment and use the files to record the results and next actions.

Fictional example · Manual checks

EXAMPLE F19: D, one USD 27 payment, two completed orders D101/D102. Fictional E17.
Retry scenario D: Fail. The person testing checkout records the duplicate orders in F19 and selects Fail in E19. The pack does not discover the problem.

A successful checkout doesn’t erase a failed one.

Keep both results and the next action in your testing record. These cropped images show the supplied fictional EXAMPLE tab without changing its wording.

The retry: Fail

EXAMPLE F19: D, one USD 27 payment, two completed orders D101/D102. Fictional E17.
E19 stays Fail. F19 records the payment and both order references observed during retry scenario D.

A separate checkout: Pass

EXAMPLE F20: S, payment SP201 approved once for USD 27. Fictional E18.
E20 is Pass for fresh scenario S. This separate success does not resolve scenario D’s retry failure.

The retry still needs follow-up

EXAMPLE G19: Maya to investigate duplicate creation by 2026-10-27. Retest D in a new dated copy.
G19 keeps the next action, responsible person and target date beside the original failure. The name, date and payment/order references are fictional.

Open the full example rows, including Fail and Pass. Retest a fix in a new dated copy and link the original evidence; keep the failed record.

What is a checkout smoke test?

It is a focused check of important purchasing steps after a store change. Follow a selected item from cart to order confirmation. Compare what happens with what you expected, then record the result.

Use this pack after a small theme, checkout configuration or storefront code change. If an app, extension or integration change affects purchasing, use these checks alongside tests for that change.

It covers one selected path. A major change or full launch needs a broader test plan; this pack does not cover every browser, payment method or checkout configuration.

You do the testing. The files keep the record.

No automatic scan, store connection, payment processing, issue assignment or checkout fix is included. The workbook does not calculate GO or NO-GO, certify security or approve a release.

You need authorized sandbox access, safe success/decline procedures, expected totals and access to payment and order records. Never enter real card data, credentials or customer secrets in the workbook.

How to use the pack

  1. Make a working copy. Keep the original blank. Use a fresh workbook or printable record for each change and browser/device.
  2. Set the context. Record the store/build, tester/date, browser, item, expected totals, safe test methods, evidence location and exclusions.
  3. Check and compare. Run the applicable steps manually. Keep decline/retry scenario D separate from fresh success scenario S.
  4. Save the results. Select the result and add observations and evidence references. For Fail or Blocked, name the next action, responsible person and target date. Save the dated record.

Use the actual status labels: Pass, Fail, Blocked, Not Run or Not Applicable. A blank result is untested. Explain exclusions; missing access is Blocked, rather than a reason to mark Pass.

Why use this instead of a free checklist?

Free platform guidance, your own checklist or an AI-assisted draft may be enough. This pack gives you a prepared record if you would prefer to use one than build and maintain your own.

Each of the 24 checks includes prerequisites, manual steps and expected results, with space for your findings, evidence and follow-up. Use the blank workbook or printable records, and refer to the completed fictional example when you need it.

You can reuse the record and its consistent result and follow-up fields. You still run the tests and decide what to do about the findings.

What is in the ZIP?

The v1.0.3 ZIP, Checkout_Smoke_Test_Pack_v1.0.3.zip, contains these three files. Its price and usage terms are still proposed, so it is not currently for sale.

Use desktop Excel or the paper record

We checked the XLSX in Microsoft Excel 16.114.1 on macOS. Use desktop Excel for the workbook; we have not verified or accepted conversions to Google Sheets or Apple Numbers.

A PDF reader is enough for the printable records. We have not verified physical printing or spoken screen-reader output.

Bring the testing knowledge and access.

You need to understand the store’s expected purchasing behavior and use its approved sandbox procedures. The guide explains the record and workflow; it does not teach store administration, integration setup or checkout debugging.

Try the supplied fictional practice before working on a store. It requires no store access or purchase transaction.

How can I use this pack?

Final usage rights are awaiting commercial approval. The current draft is not a final offer. An approved governing license must be available here before purchase opens.

That license needs to explain organization use, reuse across stores and releases, agency client projects, completed client records, editable workbook sharing, internal modifications and redistribution. Until it is approved, no final permissions for those uses are advertised here.

What help does the guide describe?

The guide limits help to opening the files and understanding their fields. It excludes store debugging, implementation, custom test design and legal/tax advice. It promises no response time or unlimited support. The final support terms still need commercial approval.

This preview does not promise future updates. For questions about the preview or terms, email [email protected].

Existing site refund terms: Terms of Use, section 13 says digital product sales are final and non-refundable, except where required by law, unless a product page or signed agreement provides otherwise. We have not approved or promised a separate refund window for this pack.

Preview the pack before deciding.

How will downloads work when sales open?

The planned delivery process returns you to this website in the same browser you used for checkout. You then download a private ZIP and save it immediately. You will not receive a delivery email or have an account library.

Sales will stay closed until we approve the final terms and verify live purchases and downloads.

Practical questions

Does it connect to Shopify or Magento, run tests or fix problems?

No. There is no store connection, automatic testing, payment processing or repair. You carry out the checks in an authorized environment and enter the results. The pack does not decide GO or NO-GO.

Do I have to perform every check?

Work through the selected path in order. Mark a condition Not Applicable only when it does not apply, and explain why. For example, delivery-only checks do not apply to digital goods. Keep relevant checks you have not performed as Not Run. Missing access or evidence is Blocked. Record exclusions with the change owner.

What happens when a check fails or is blocked?

Fail means observed behavior differs from the expected result. Blocked means you cannot run or verify the check. Record the observation, an evidence reference with sensitive details removed, the next action, responsible person and target date. Retest in a new dated copy and link the original evidence; a later Pass does not erase the original Fail.

Can a declined test payment count as Pass?

Yes. A permitted simulated decline is Pass when checkout reports rejection and creates no successful payment or completed order. An unexpected outcome is Fail. The decline/retry and fresh successful checkout are separate scenarios.

Can I use Google Sheets or Apple Numbers?

Neither conversion has been verified or accepted. Use desktop Microsoft Excel for the workbook, or the PDF’s printable records for a paper workflow.

Can I use it for clients or share the workbook?

The v1.0.3 license still contains proposed terms. Final permissions for client work, completed client records, sharing editable files and modification or redistribution are unresolved pending approval. Do not treat the draft or this preview as a grant of those rights.

What updates, support and refunds are included?

This preview does not promise future updates, a guaranteed response time or unlimited support. The proposed file help and final product terms still need commercial approval. The existing site terms, section 13 state the default refund policy for digital products. This preview adds no new refund promise.

How will I download it, and what if the window is lost?

Once we approve sales and verify live delivery, you will download the ZIP in the same browser you used for checkout. The planned download window allows up to three downloads within 15 minutes. Reload the confirmation page for a fresh button while that window is open, and save the ZIP immediately. If you lose access, contact support with your checkout receipt instead of buying again. Purchases are not enabled here.
